Commercial Radio cancels Ultimate Song Chart Awards
6 Dec– Following the footsteps off Metro Radio Hits Awards and RTHK's Top 10 Gold Songs Awards, Commercial Radio Hong Kong (CRHK) recently announced that it is also cancelling its annual awards ceremony, the Ultimate Song Chart Awards Presentation.
As reported on Mingpao, in a statement released on 4 December, the station stated that they have worked hard in finding a suitable location and various ways to ensure the safety of all participants for the January event due to the current civil unrest that has been going on in Hong Kong.
"However, we are sorry to say that we have yet to find the most appropriate method, therefore we are cancelling the awards ceremony originally scheduled for the Wan Chai Convention and Exhibition, and instead will give out a total of 43 awards in other forms," the statement read.
Commercial Radio also stated that categories like "My Favorite Male and Female Singers" and "My Favourite Band" will be chosen based on online voting as usual, which will be open from 23 to 27 December.
On the other hand, TVB recently assured that its annual music ceremony, the Jade Solid Gold Best Ten Music Awards Presentation will be held as usual next January.
