Comedian Chokoleit passes away

11 Mar – Comedian Chokoleit (real name Jonathan Aguilar Garcia) has recently passed away, as confirmed by Star Magic.

As reported on ABS-CBN, the comedian, who was most famous for his role in the 2004 series, "Marina", died of pulmonary edema and heart attack after being rushed to the hospital in Abra.

It is noted that he was in Abra originally for an out of town show, but experienced breathing difficulty following his performance.

Friends in showbiz had since taken to social media to express their sadness and condolences.

Vice Ganda wrote, "Thank you Lord for giving me a chance to meet Chokoleit and become his friend. I'm sad that we lost him. But happy that he'll be in a much peaceful and happier place now with you. Thanks for everything Chokie. I love you!!! Rest well my friend."

"Marina" co-star Claudine Barretto posted, "I cannot put into words the pain that I am feeling Choko! I've lost a good friend and protector. I [love] u sobra."

Actor Paulo Avelino tweeted, "RIP [Chokoleit]. The laughter and happiness you brought to everyone will surely be missed. Such a sad day."

He was 48.
