As reported on Inquirer, the news was announced by his camp on his official Instagram via a photo of Martin and the famed Panday creator and director, Carlo J. Caparas.

"Panday", or "Ang Panday" (The Blacksmith) tells the story of a blacksmith named Flavio who becomes a hero when he forges a meteorite into a powerful dagger/sword.

Stars who played the blacksmith in the past include Bong Revilla, Jinggoy Estrada, Jericho Rosales and Joey de Leon, the latter who played the parody version of the character.

The latest actor to play the role was Richard Gutierrez, who starred in the 2016 TV5 version, "Ang Panday".
