  • Clueless is getting a TV mystery spin-off that will focus on Cher’s BFF, Dionne.

  • The series is set to air on NBC’s new streaming service, Peacock.

Cher and Dionne bonded because they had something in common: popularity. “She’s my friend because we both know what it’s like for people to be jealous of us,” Cher admitted in the 1995 cult classic Clueless. Cher was the star of the movie, but now it’s time for Dionne to hop in the driver’s seat (let’s just hope she won’t blow through stop signs like her BFF did).

The Clueless TV spin-off will focus on Dionne (originally played by Stacey Dash) and is in development at Peacock, Variety confirms. The show will have new elements making it more of a mystery. Writers Jordan Reddout and Gus Hicke call it “a baby-pink and bisexual blue-tinted, tiny-sunglasses-wearing, oat-milk-latte and Adderall-fueled look at what happens when queen bee Cher disappears and her lifelong number two Dionne steps into Cher’s vacant Air Jordans.”

Apparently, being the It Girl in high school isn’t always easy, especially when your bestie is missing. They continued, “How does Dionne deal with the pressures of being the new most popular girl in school while also unraveling the mystery of what happened to her best friend?” Okay, I’m getting major Pretty Little Liars vibes and I’m kinda into it.

Clueless celebrated its 25th anniversary this year and Alicia Silverstone (Cher) reminisced about her iconic role. “I found Cher on the page to be materialistic and unappealing. And really annoying, to be honest,” she told Vogue. “But I realized that was just me judging her. Once I started working on her, I found all the heart and all the love.”
