"Clarita" to compete at the Catholic festival in Vatican

14 Nov – The Jodi Sta. Maria-starrer, "Clarita" has been selected to compete at the upcoming 10th Mirabile Dictu - International Catholic Film Festival held at the Vatican.

As reported on ABS-CBN, the news was announced by its producers Black Sheep, stating that the movie will be in the Main Competition, while its director Derick Cabrido has also been nominated in the Best Director category.

Based on a true story that occurred in 1953 Manila, "Clarita" revolves around one Clarita Villanueva, a young woman who claimed that she was tormented by unseen demons.

Her case is later assigned to a pair of exorcist priests, the more senior Fr. Salvador (Ricky Davao), and the younger but skeptical Fr. Benedicto (Arron Villaflor).

Sta. Maria has already set tongues wagging for her performance in the titular role, with critics saying that she will definitely be in contention for best actress in next year's awards season.
