Cinemagoer in Singapore tests positive for COVID-19
24 Jul - A cinemagoer who visited a cinema in Singapore on 15 July 2020 has been tested positive for COVID-19.
As posted on Golden Village Mr Popcorn's Facebook page, the cinema in question is GV VivoCity, where Hall 4 is identified as the one the cinemagoer was in, in the late afternoon of last Wednesday.
The matter was first brought to light to the cinema by the Singaporean Ministry of Health (MOH) on 23 July 2020, and the cinema's management had immediately cancelled all upcoming shows in the affected hall and activated their NEA-listed cleaning and disinfecting agency to carry out thorough deep cleansing and sanitisation of the hall and all general access areas.
"Your well-being is our priority. Since our reopening in phase 2, we have not only implemented measures mandated by local authorities but have also introduced several measures of our own such as frequent cleaning and disinfecting of all high touch-point areas throughout the day in all our premises."
"Let's all do our part together! Remember to mask up, practise safe distancing in our cinemas and stay home if you are feeling unwell." stated the post on Golden Village Mr Popcorn's Facebook page.
As of today, GV VivoCity has undergone three rounds of extensive cleaning and disinfecting.
"Hall 4 is good as new, along with all common areas like the lobby, the box office, automated ticket machines and toilets. Prior to opening today, we will also be carrying out our daily comprehensive cleaning protocol and topping up of hand sanitizers at various touch points in the cinema."
Cinemas in Singapore have been temporarily shuttered since 27 March as part of the government's effort to curb the COVID-19 outbreak in the country.
They were only allowed to open in Phase Two of Singapore's recovery plan, which was 13 July onwards with strict SOP implementation.
