Christopher Nolan’s new film will land in July, 2020, it’s been confirmed.

But sadly, that’s pretty much all that been confirmed.

Warner Bros has said that the new film will be released on July 17 next year, but added no additional details of the project – no name, no stars, no synopsis. Nowt.

The Hollywood Reporter offered a tiny sliver of extra information, adding that it will be ‘an event film’, and that it’ll be released in IMAX format.

Nolan has been an enthusiastic exponent of the huge cinematic format since using it in his second Batman movie, The Dark Knight.

Release window-wise, it currently shares the weekend with the new Spongebob Squarepants movie, and the Bob’s Burgers movie from Fox. Disney’s Jungle Cruise with The Rock and Emily Blunt arrives the following week.

So considering we already know a fair bit about Jungle Cruise, and that it wrapped in September last year, the production must be a fair way along already.

Meanwhile, for fans of extreme pub quiz Nolan trivia, it is the same weekend that Nolan’s last movie, Dunkirk, arrived in cinemas.

For that film, he scored his first ever Best Director nomination at the Oscars, though he sadly lost out to Guillermo Del Toro for The Shape of Water.
