Christopher Nolan is pushing the boundaries of cinema with his upcoming sci-fi movie TENET.

That’s according to Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who will join Robert Pattinson, John David Washington, Elizabeth Debicki, Michael Caine and Kenneth Branagh in the hugely anticipated blockbuster.

During his recent conversation with Collider, Johnson called The Dark Knight, Inception, Dunkirk and Memento director a “legend” before opening up about what he learnt from observing how Nolan’s “mind works.”

“How he is, as a filmmaker, and how he puts his films together is quite extraordinary. There’s no expense spared. He’s definitely trying to push the boundaries of cinema, in high concepts and sci-fi concepts, and the cinematic side of things is extraordinary to watch. It was a real honour and pleasure to be in his presence, and to work on that movie.”

There is a huge amount of secrecy surrounding TENET, so much so that Johnson insisted that was “nothing else” he could “really say about it.”

The only other aspect of TENET he discussed was the cast, as he called John David Washington “phenomenal and incredible, and a wonderful, genuine guy” who is “gonna be a star,” while he also said he “loved working” with the “brilliant and great” Robert Pattinson.

In fact, Taylor-Johnson was just ecstatic to have worked with them and to be part of a Christopher Nolan film.

“I love Christopher Nolan movies,” he declared. “When there was an opportunity to try to go for a role in any one of his movies, I’ve been the first person to have my hand up, saying, ‘Let me try.’ I was very fortunate and lucky to have been accepted into the cast of TENET.”

We’ll find out what all the fuss is about when TENET is released on 17 July, 2020.
