Christopher Eccleston has revealed the one way he would return to the MCU - if Taika Waititi wrote it.

The British actor played dark elf Malekith in Thor: Dark World back in 2013 and has often spoken about how disappointed he was with the experience.

“I was in make-up for six, seven hours every day – they didn’t tell me that upfront, so I wasn’t pleased about that,” he said at New York Comic-Con (via Radio Times) before commenting on the writing of the movie itself.

“There was a lack of humour in the film, I felt… so shall we move on?”

However, he did say that he was a massive fan of the third Thor movie, Thor: Ragnorak, and would totally return to the MCU if Waitit wrote his comeback.

"If it was the guy[s] who wrote the third,” he said, “I'll do that."

The Kiwi filmmaker is already busy writing the comeback for another Thor: The Dark World star called Natalie Portman.

She is reprising her role as Jane Foster in Thor: Love and Thunder and will be taking up the mantle of Mighty Thor herself.

Thor actor Chris Hemsworth will also be appearing in the movie which will see his Asgardian hero hand over his hammer Mjölnir to ex-girlfriend Jane.

He was last seen in Avengers: Endgame overcoming the depression that stemmed from losing to Thanos and losing his entire family, and heading on his way into space with the Guardians of the Galaxy.

He had left Valkyrie to take over as ruler of New Asgard and she will also be appearing in Thor: Love and Thunder.

Thor: Love and Thunder is due in cinemas on 5 November, 2021.
