Christian Bale sported a lovely new black suit at the Critics’ Choice Awards last night, showing off his trim physique after stacking it on to play US vice president Dick Cheney in Vice.

He won Best Actor in a Comedy for his turn, but on collecting the award, it appeared that his suit was newer than even he realised.

A bearded Bale then went on to hail the movie, helmed by Adam McKay, as a ‘tragedy’ rather than a comedy.

“I guess time sort of allows it to be considered a comedy, but it’s really a tragedy,” he said

He also won the Critics’ Choice gong for Best Actor in a Comedy in his last role for McKay, in The Big Short in 2016.

Last week at the Golden Globes, where he also scooped an award, he compared to Cheney to ‘Satan’.

“Thank you to Satan for giving me inspiration for playing this role,” he quipped, which got him some recognition from the Church of Satan.
