Chris Pratt on Anna Faris split: "Divorce sucks."
Chris Pratt has spoken publicly about his split from Anna Faris for the first time since the couple announced their separation after eight years of marriage last year.
The 38-year-old actor – who has a five-year-old son, Jack, with Faris – admitted that although it hasn't been easy, they're both "probably doing better" since they parted ways.
"Divorce sucks," Pratt told Entertainment Weekly. "But at the end of the day, we've got a great kid who's got two parents who love him very much.
"And we're finding a way to navigate this while still remaining friends and still being kind to one another. It's not ideal, but yeah, I think both of us are actually probably doing better."
Pratt confirmed that he and Faris were "legally separating" in a joint statement on social media back in July, writing: "Anna and I are sad to announce we are legally separating.
"We tried hard for a long time, and we're really disappointed."
His statement continued: "Our son has two parents who love him very much and for his sake we want to keep this situation as private as possible moving forward.
"We still have love for each other, will always cherish our time together and continue to have the deepest respect for one another."
Meanwhile, fans speculated that Faris was ruminating about her former relationship during her podcast Unqualified when a caller phoned in for advice.
"Life is too short to be in relationships where you feel this isn't fully right or somebody doesn't have your back, or somebody doesn't fully value you," she said.
"Don't be afraid to feel your independence if things aren't right."
The 41-year-old House Bunny star recently told Women's Health: "What Chris and I try to do is to communicate openly.
"We reiterate that there aren't rules to this. We have a lot of love and friendship, and our big goal is to protect Jack. I cherish my family, my close friends, my child – that makes the rest of it worth it."
The couple married in 2009 in Bali, and welcomed Jack in 2012.
Pratt is currently promoting Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. Faris is starring in the remake of Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell's Overboard.
