Chow Yun Fat becomes victim of death hoax

7 Dec – Chow Yun Fat is the latest celebrity to become the victim of a death hoax in mainland China.

As reported on Epoch Times, on 4 December, news of Chow's death went viral on Chinese social media with reports saying that he passed away due to a disease.

Several netizens also shared a screenshot of a supposed news programme, which has a headline that read, "Veteran actor Chow Yun Fat passed away in a Hong Kong hospital today".

Chow's image from the movie "God of Gamblers" was also placed in the screenshot.

When asked by the media to clarify the news, Chow's wife Jasmine Tan expressed her astonishment, saying, "My husband is doing well. He is resting at home, as healthy as he can be."

Chow is not the first celebrity to be the victim of a death hoax. Stars including Stephen Chow and Jackie Chan were previously rumoured to have passed away. In fact, Jackie seemed to have been reported dead almost every year, a joke that he never found to be funny at all.
