China is also filming "The Heaven Sword and Dragon Sabre"
26 Jan – Following reports that there will be a joint collaboration between TVB and Wong Jing to remake Jin Yong's famous novel "The Heaven Sword and Dragon Sabre", it was revealed that another remake of the same story is currently in production in China.
According to Phoenix, Cathay Media has recently unveiled the official cast list for their own upcoming remake, with actor Joseph Zeng playing the lead role, Zhang Wuji.
The female leads Zhao Min will be played by Chen Yuqi, who previously starred in "The Princess Weiyoung", while the role of Zhou Zhiruo will be played by actress Joyce Jian.
However, many are criticising the casting choices, especially for the role of Zhang Wuji and Zhou Zhiruo. Many believed that the former has shown a poor acting skill in the talent reality show, "The Birth of An Actor", while the latter is not the perfect fit for the beloved character that has been portrayed by various actresses including Gigi Lai, and Gao Yuanyuan.
On the other hand, Hong Kong actress Kathy Chow, who played Zhou Zhiruo in the 1994 version of the said television adaptation, will also be involved in the new project, and will playing the role of Abbess Miejue.
Other stars include Louis Fan, Wang Deshun, and Yang Mingna.
The upcoming 50-episode drama is helmed by Jiang Jiajun ("The Legend of the Condor Heroes", "The Adventure for Love").
