24 Apr – Chinese fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe recently expressed anger and frustration against the promotion team of Marvel China for what they described to be an unprofessional and embarrassing fan event held at the Shanghai Disneyland on 20 April.

As reported on Mingpao, netizens recently revealed that the event, which was held in part to promote the new movie, "Avengers: Infinity War" has caused shame and anger in many of the fans for how the stars - including Robert Downey Jr., Tom Hiddleston, and Mark Ruffalo - were treated on stage.

Although there had been complaints about the crowd control, many stated that what angered them the most was that the organiser sidelined the real stars of the event to let Chinese celebrities in the likes of Jane Zhang, Aaron Yan, Eason Chan, Joey Yung and others to take centre stage.

These stars later performed their own songs and interacted on stage (while the Hollywood actors watched from the side), with many related had nothing to do with Marvel, and seemed to have little to no clue about the franchise.

This was visibly shown by Eason, who seemed uninterested in the subject of the event at all, and at one point made a rude remark saying, "It is nice to be invited today to come with some of this... what are they called? Superman? Oh, superheroes. Superhero, whatever."

He also performed his song, "Let it Out", which had nothing to do with the movie.

On the other hand, fans have now turned to Weibo to demand apology from Marvel China promotion team, while others are now flooding Robert Downey Jr.'s Instagram to apologise to the star on what had happened.
