Chin Kar Lok focuses on the positives despite lack of jobs

1 Apr – Chin Kar Lok recently admitted that it has been a month since he last worked, following the outbreak of COVID-19.

As reported on Mingpao, the actor and president of the Hong Kong Stuntmen Association, who spoke to the media about his own situation, stated that he was originally scheduled to film two new movies to be shot overseas in March, but that both projects had since been postponed.

However, unlike most filmmakers worrying about the fate of their business, Chin said that he will not stress himself too much about it.

"Everybody has to plan and prepare for the ice age. This does not only affect the film industry. Others like the travel industry, food and beverage, and others are facing the same struggles too," he said.

Chin stated that a pause in productions should not always be seen as a bad thing, and that people should instead focus on the positives.

"Now that work has stopped, I have more time to be with my two daughters. We have better relationship now. With risk comes opportunity. The pandemic will pass, and by that time, we will need a lot of entertainment. What we should do right now is plan," he said.

Chin also expressed his belief that the ice age in the film industry will end by the end of 2020.

However, the actor admitted that the government should support the industry so that more Hong Kong films could be made instead of focusing on co-productions with mainland companies.
