Cherry Pie Picache wants to combat AIDS stigma through play

14 Feb – Cherry Pie Picache has something to say in her new play under The Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA), titled "Under My Skin".

As reported on ABS-CBN, the actress, who spoke to the media about the project, shared that she wanted to use her position to influence and advocate for certain issues, and was happy to be doing it with PETA in raising awareness about the issues of HIV and AIDS.

"I am learning a lot and I really like the learning process. I was also interested in where the Philippines is at in terms of HIV. It's very timely because we should all give a part of ourselves to make people aware," she said.

Picache also hopes that the said play will not only be a learning experience, but contribute to a positive change when it comes to the topic HIV and AIDS crisis in the Philippines, which has always been seen as a stigma.

"HIV is not and should not be a death sentence anymore. We, as a community, as a society, have the responsibility to get involved," she said.

"Under My Skin" runs from 7 February to 22 March at the PETA Theater Center in Quezon City.
