Chef Wan not going to pay for daughter's wedding

6 Apr – Never one to mince words, Chef Wan recently admitted that he has had enough of footing the bills for his children's wedding.

On 5 April, the celebrity chef took to Instagram to express his thoughts, revealing that his daughter and actress Serina Redzuwan had asked his permission to hold a simple marriage ceremony at his home.

"In my heart, I thought, 'That's enough, Rina. Just go and have your nikah at a mosque and invite whoever you want to your wedding and make it official'," he wrote, adding that he is busy enough with managing his restaurant business and taking care of his ailing mother.

"A lot of people have had their wedding ceremonies at mosques and came to [my restaurant] De.Wan 1958 after. You can't invite a lot of people during this pandemic anyway. And ask your future husband to pay for the function as I am not going to do so like I did in the past."

Chef Wan admitted that he is done sponsoring his children's weddings, adding that he would rather give out his money to the orphans.

It is noted that Serina was previously married to Irish businessman Salahudin or Gavin Edward O'Luanaigh. The couple, who ended their marriage last year after seven years together, are parents to son Tristan, 9 and daughter Isabella, 8.
