Charlize Theron's new pixie cut was inspired by American soccer player Megan Rapinoe.
The 44-year-old debuted her new 'do at the Glamour Women of the Year Awards in New York on Monday and told the FIFA Women's World Cup winner she was the reason for her chic crop.
During her acceptance speech after being honoured with The Rebel award, Charlize spoke about empowering her fellow women.
"The women in this room tonight are putting themselves on the frontlines of the empathy battle, via storytelling, creating opportunities for those who need it most, or just unabashedly being yourself and telling other women, 'We don't have to apologise for who we are or what we are,'" she explained, before pausing and pointing at her blonde hair. "And I'm looking at you, Megan. This is all you."
Charlize's new look comes just weeks after she debuted a '90s-style fringe bowl cut, with honey-coloured highlights, which was created by celebrity hairstylist Adir Abergel.
Sharing a snap of the actress on Instagram, he revealed that he was inspired by one of the world's most iconic supermodels: Linda Evangelista.
"I always feel so blessed collaborating with this insanely talented human @charlizeafrica," the hair expert wrote. "I was inspired by early images of Linda Evangelista shot by @therealpeterlindbergh. It took some rad people to make this one come to life."
Charlize later confirmed that she took the plunge with the daring haircut as part of her upcoming role as Cipher in Fast & Furious 9.
