'Charlie's Angels' stars reunite for Lucy Lui's Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony
Almost 20 years after Charlie’s Angels was rebooted from 70s TV show to millennial movie, its stars reunited yesterday as Lucy Lui unveiled her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The Kill Bill star was joined by Cameron Diaz and Drew Barrymore, who made up the crime-fighting trio from director McG’s 2000 actioner.

And just for Charlie’s Angels completists, Demi Moore also pitched up to introduce Lui to the assembled crowd, the villain from the sequel, Charlie’s Angels 2: Full Throttle.
Addressing her old crew, Lui said: “My dear Angels, it’s a 20-year reunion. 20 years ago we were an elite crime-fighting team. Now look at us!”
The movie, which also starred Sam Rockwell, Crispin Glover, LL Cool J, Melissa McCarthy and Bill Murray, was a box office smash and boasted a number one single for its soundtrack, Destiny’s Child’s iconic Independent Women.
Lui also referenced Anna May Wong in her speech, the actress and fashion icon considered the first Chinese-American star of cinema, who rose to fame in the 1920s.

“Sometimes people talk about my mainstream successes as groundbreaking for an Asian, but Asians have been making movies for a long time,” she continued.
“We just weren’t making them here because we weren’t invited to the table.
“If my body of work somehow helped bridged the gap between the stereotypical roles first given to Anna May and mainstream success today, I’m thrilled to have been part of that process.”
Lui went on to snare starring roles in Tarantino’s Kill Bill movies, the hit musical Chicago, voicing Master Viper in the Kung Fu Panda movies, and most recently starring as Joan Watson opposite Johnny Lee Miller’s iteration of Sherlock Holmes in the crime procedural Elementary for CBS.
Charlie’s Angels, meanwhile, has been rebooted with Elizabeth Banks directing (and also playing Bosley) and Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott and Ella Balinska as the crime-fighting Angels.
Also starring Patrick Stewart, Djimon Hounsou and Sam Claflin, it’s due out in November.
