24 May – Sony has recently announced the release date for its upcoming reboot of the popular "Charlie's Angels" franchise.

According to Screenrant, the reboot has been set for a 7 June 2019 release in the U.S.

The movie will be directed by "Pitch Perfect 2" helmer, Elizabeth Banks, who signed on for the project back in 2015.

Banks will also be producing the picture with her husband and partner, Max Handelman, under the banner of her Brownstone Productions.

The movie's script will be written by the co-creators of the TV series "Narcos", Carlo Bernard and Doug Miro.

Sony previously released a "Charlie's Angels" movie in 2000 starring Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz and Lucy Liu. The three starlets returned to reprise their roles in the 2003 sequel, "Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle".

The movies, in turn, were based on a TV series of the same name that aired between the 1970s and 1980s.

"Charlie's Angels" is about a group of women who work for the Charles Townsend Agency, fighting crime and kicking butt. Their boss, Charlie, never lets them see his face and instead, communicates with them and his associate John Bosley using an electronic speakerphone.

Not much information has been released about the reboot, other than the release date, but we expect a cast list to be announced soon.
