27 Aug – Charlene Choi recently took to social media to mourn the loss of Hong Kong filmmaker Benny Chan, of whom she had worked with in the past.
The singer-actress posted a couple of screenshots from her two movies with Benny - "New Police Story" and "Rob-B-Hood", and wrote, "I still remember filming one of the scenes in "New Police Story", particularly in the detention room. The director allowed me to act freely, performing the way I wanted and expressing what I wanted to say... and that was our first collaboration. I was still a newcomer at the time."
"The second collaboration was to shoot "Rob-B-Hood". There was a crying scene that I wanted to shoot in a crowded street. We were racing against time, but the director was afraid that I would be under pressure, so he cleverly assigned a cameraman to me, and kept shooting until my emotions came out..."
Charlene described Benny as a talented director, who was kind, very polite to everyone, and one who was willing to hire and work with new people.
"Thank you very much for the opportunities given to me. I am honoured to have participated in your movies! Have a good journey, director Benny Chan!" she added.
