Channing Tatum and Joseph Gordon-Levitt To Co-Star In Musical Comedy

Two big name male stars are attached to a new movie the like of which we don’t tend to see too many nowadays: an all-new original musical.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Channing Tatum (currently showing off his singing and dancing skills in the Coen Brothers’ ‘Hail, Caesar!’) and Joseph Gordon-Levitt are attached to the as-yet untitled project, which has been picked up by Universal.

Co-conceived by Gordon-Levitt and Michael Bacall (screenwriter of ’Scott Pilgrim Vs The World,’ ‘Project X’ and the ‘Jump Street’ movies), it is reported to centre on “two pilots on a misadventure.”

Even more unusually for a musical, the film is said to be gearing for an R-rating - meaning 15 or possibly even 18 is likely in the UK.

Bacall will write the script, but no director has yet been announced.

There will also be some major musical muscle behind the camera, as one of the producers is Marc Blatt, the producer behind stage musical hit ‘Wicked.’

Tatum and Gordon-Levitt will also produce via their respective production companies.

Catch Tatum in ‘Hail, Caesar!’ in UK cinemas from 4 March. Gordon-Levitt, meanwhile, will next be seen in the title role of Oliver Stone’s real life drama ‘Snowden,’ opening 12 May.
