Cesar Montano wants Bea Alonzo in historical film

Montano thinks the British-Filipina actress is the best choice to play the wife of Sultan Kudarat

20 Mar – Cesar Montano has set his eyes on one particular actress for the role of the wife of Sultan Kudarat in the upcoming production of the historical film, "Sultan Kudarat: The Unconquered Hero".

As reported on Rappler, the actor who is also the Chief Operating Officer of the Tourism Promotions Board (TPB), shared the idea at the Cine Turismo Event last week, while discussing the production of the movie.

"She is really suited for the role. She is a true Filipina and a good actress. Bea is one those actresses we are thinking of making part of the cast," he said.

On the other hand, Montano said that "Sultan Kudarat: The Unconquered Hero" will be the first among many historical films that TPB will produce annually.

"We have to tell our story because we haven't told our story yet. As a Filipino, the youth don't know much about our roots and what the country was before. That's why they're not proud [of our country]. We can't blame them because they don't know much about our history. That's why we have to tell our history," he said.

Sultan Kudarat, or Muhammad Dipatuan Kudarat, was the 7th Sultan of Maguindanao in the 17th century, known for successfully fighting off Spanish invasions.
