Celebs express sadness over Godfrey Gao's passing

28 Nov– Celebrity friends of the late Godfrey Gao have recently taken to social media to express their sadness, following news that the model-actor passed away after having a heart attack on the set of the Zhejiang TV show, "Chase Me".

As reported on Mingpao, the actor's best friend and basketball player James Mao, who asked Godfrey to be his best man at his 29 November wedding, wrote, "This is not how it's supposed to be. We [were] supposed to go snowboarding in February. I'm supposed to see you in two days. We supposed to grow old together. Why you leaving me so early?!! I love you always my brother."

Chinese actor Xu Zheng, who worked with Godfrey in the upcoming film "Lost in Russia", shared on Weibo that the actor was a perfect person who always take good care of others. He also blamed the show's team for failing to take precautions, saying that they must be held accountable for what happened.

Taiwanese actor Sunny Wang also took to Instagram to share several photos of him with Godfrey, writing, "RIP Godfrey. I still can't believe it while I'm writing this. We had quite an interesting path to becoming friends, and only we will know. You were one of the nicest human beings I've ever gotten to know. I respect you G. My condolences to your family, friends and loved ones. Rest well G."

Simu Liu, who will be playing the titular role in the upcoming Marvel film, "Shang Chi", tweeted, "My heart is absolutely shattered. Godfrey left us far too soon and in far too tragic of a way."
