Celebrity hairstylist Nigel Woo of Passion Hair Salon dies at 42; cause of death unknown

Singaporean celebrity hairstylist Nigel Woo of Passion Hair Salon has passed away at the age of 42, Yahoo Lifestyle SEA has learned.

Woo died last Thursday, 11 June, and he has been laid to rest by his family.

Woo’s father Johnny shared a heartfelt Facebook message the next day: “My dear son (bid) farewell to me yesterday; (I) wish him well to heaven.”

The late Woo who had worked on several fashion shoots for magazine titles such as Nuyou, Brides, Icon and Her World, styled many famous celebrities and models like Rebecca Lim, Zoe Tay, Sheila Sim, Kit Chan, and Sharon Au during his time.

Woo’s death came as a shock to many who knew and worked with the hairstylist.

A number of celebrities and friends have been paying tributes on social media to Woo.

Former actress Sharon Au, who’s currently based in France, shared two tributes to her friend on 11 June. “We never got to say goodbye. Why did you leave me Nigel? I was going to fly back soon,” she shared on her Facebook account.

Woo’s boss David Gan, the director of Passion Hair Salon, shared that the former had been ill for quite some time, but he was thankful for the times they had as colleagues: “The suddenness of your passing left me a little lost for words. You were unwell but I didn’t think you would leave for good. I’m very thankful for the many years that we’ve been each other’s colleagues. If there is a next life I hope we will be colleagues again.”

Singer Kit Chan shared her sadness on the passing of her friend: “It is so sad that you left us so suddenly and during this period of isolation. I'm just so grateful that I got the chance to talk to you at Passion before the Circuit Breaker was implemented.”

“You were always that quiet and sweet presence in the background but you know, I always appreciated your being there,” Chan added. “You were always reliable and gave your best.”
