Singaporean actor Andie Chen and his wife Kate Pang are the latest talents to leave Mediacorp. The news comes just weeks after local actress Jeanette Aw announced her departure from the local media giant.

Chen announced on Instagram on Wednesday (1 November) that his contract with Mediacorp is over, and that today marks a new chapter for his career.

“Most of my 10 years in acting, I was attached to the company. They have given me a start in my career, a channel to explore my passions and most importantly they played a big part in the formation of my family,” said the 32-year-old in the Instagram post. Chen is married to Taiwanese actress Kate Pang, 34, who will also be leaving Mediacorp.

“When I first came to Singapore in 2011, I meant to stay for only two years to learn acting. My stay became for seven years. In this big family, I gained many friendships, and also built a family of my own… I thank the television station for its support, and thank my boss and manager for their love,” said the mother of two.

The family has a YouTube channel “Kandie Family”, in which the family showcases snippets of their daily lives.

According to Channel NewsAsia, the final day of the couple’s contract with Mediacorp was 31 October. Chen came into the spotlight after winning talent show Star Search in 2007. He was also famous for starring in local shows such as “The Little Nyonya” and “The Journey” trilogy series.

Meanwhile, Pang is a Taiwanese actress who moved to Singapore in 2011, where she starred in shows such as “A Tale of 2 Cities” and “Devotion”. In 2013, she won Best Supporting Actress (Highly Commended) at the Asian Television Awards for the drama “Joys of Life”, in which she starred alongside Chen.

Talent agency The Celebrity Agency has already posted their well wishes to the family on social media, saying, “In our hearts, Kate and Andie will always be a part of our family. Wishing them all the best!”
