Celebrities React to Trump-Clinton Presidential Debate on Twitter

As millions tuned into the first presidential debate between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton Monday night, many shared their real-time reactions on social media, including celebrities.

The candidates named-dropped a few Hollywood names during the 90+ minute event; Trump mentioned Sean Hannity, Howard Stern and Rosie O’Donnell, while Clinton brought up beauty queen Alicia Machado.

Neither Stern or O’Donnell tweeted anything about the debate. Hannity only tweeted sparingly, agreeing that he and Trump had many arguments, but didn’t confirm that Trump was opposed to the war in Iraq.

Former Miss Universe Machado, whom Clinton said Trump called “Miss Piggy” and “Miss Housekeeping,” tweeted in Spanish, “Thanks Mrs. @hillaryclinton for your respect for women and our differences! We’re with you!” Machado added, “She studied and prepared for a career! She is ready and prepared to be President. Go @HillaryClinton! Go back to your casino #RataNazi”

Many of Trump’s most vocal celebrity supports — Antonio Sabato Jr., Stephen Baldwin, Gary Busey, and Scott Baio — were all silent debate night.

On the other hand, Clinton’s supporters tore into her Republican rival.

They also praised Clinton’s steadiness and preparedness.

Others criticized moderator Lester Holt, who was criticized for at times staying silent and allowing too many Trump interruptions.

Supporters from both parties said Holt could’ve been more aggressive, and had opportunities to fact-check both candidates.

Still, some thought Holt’s silence was exactly what the evening called for.

Which candidate do you think did better in the debate? And how was Lester Holt as moderator? Weigh in with your comments below!
