27 Jan – Although many expected Cecilia Choi would win awards for her performance in the Chow Kwun Wai movie, "Beyond the Dream", the actress admitted that she was surprised upon finding out that her first recognition this year comes from the Hong Kong Film Critics Society.
As reported on Mingpao, the actress, who took to social media to express her thoughts about her Best Actress win, stated that she is honoured and elated to have received the most votes.
"This is the first Hong Kong movie where I play the lead. Aside from seeing it as good fortune, it is also an affirmation of my effort," she said.
Like her co-star Terrance Lau, Cecilia admitted that shooting the said film was very challenging for her, but that with the help with her co-stars and the director, she was able to create beautiful memories through the said movie.
"I am thankful for all the experience I gained from working with many senior actors over the years. Plus, I was also fortunate to have been given such a good script. I will continue to pursue my movie dream and do my best to bring every role to life," she added.
