CBS Buys Liz Feldman Family Comedy

CBS has bought Family Business, a multi-camera comedy from One Big Happy creator Liz Feldman and Aaron Kaplan’s Kapital Entertainment. CBS Television Studios, where Feldman is under an overall deal, is the studio.

Written by Feldman, Family Business centers on a successful woman who gives up her corporate career and reluctantly returns to Brooklyn to help run the family business in a time of need. Feldman executive produces with Kapital’s Kaplan, Dana Honor and Wendi Trilling.

Feldman created and executive produced the NBC comedy series One Big Happy. For five seasons she also worked on CBS’ comedy series 2 Broke Girls, which she joined after the pilot. Feldman previously was a writer-producer on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, sharing in two Daytime Emmy Awards with the show’s team. She is repped by CAA, Rise Management, and attorney Jeff Endlich.

This is Kapital Entertainment’s latest comedy sale this season at CBS, where the company has sophomore single-camera comedy series Life in Pieces. Family Business joins Dan Kopelman single-camera comedy project Me, Myself & I, which has a pilot production commitment, another single-camera comedy, Hannah Royce’s Questionable Choices written by Matt Tarses, as well as two multi-camera comedies — 9J, 9K, and 9Lfrom Dana Klein and Mark Feuerstein and a project from Corinne Kingsbury.
