CBD MIXER: A Members-Only Singles Social Club Launches its First Event in Singapore
In the age of Tinder, Happn and a whole host of dating apps, the notion of a singles mixer seems almost antiquated. However, Vanilla Luxury is bucking the trend, and we’re expecting a big following.
“Modern dating is painful and difficult,” explains Gursheel Dhillon, the 29-year-old behind this singles club’s concept, and co-organiser of Singapore's largest singles party, VALENTINE VENDETTA. “In our two years of event-management and networking, the one recurring refrain we encounter is this: do you have single friends you can introduce me to?”
Co-sponsored by the Social Development Network, CBD MIXER will offer a vetted crowd of eligible Singaporean and PR professionals in their 20s to 40s, who are looking to meet someone. The first mixer will be at Skyline, a penthouse bar and lounge perched atop Raffles Place in Singapore Land Tower.
The vetting process is at the organiser’s discretion and unlike an app, which tends to focus on the superficial, explains Dhillon. These curated events offer individuals a chance to get to know each other through conversations.
“Our criterion is simple; we want to include people we would enjoy chatting to at a party. This is not about superficial conversations, but real people who are looking to meet like-minded singles.” There will be 'CBD Mixologists' who are hosts at hand, to make introductions, start conversations and spark connections.
