'Cats' and John Travolta clean up at the Razzie awards

Cats swept the board at the 2020 Razzie Awards yesterday, scooping the gongs for Worst Picture and a raft of others.

The disastrous all-star remake of Andrew Lloyd Webber's hit musical also won Worst Supporting Actress for Rebel Wilson, Worst Supporting Actor for James Corden, Worst Director for Tom Hooper and Worst Screenplay for Hooper and Lee Hall.

The movie made a dismal $76 million at the worldwide box office, was panned mercilessly by critics and lost its studio an estimated $100 million.

Also winning/losing on the night was John Travolta, who scooped Worst Actor for his role as the obsessive fan of a movie star in Fred Durst's movie The Fanatic.

Travolta also won for his work in dirt-track racing movie Trading Paint.

Worst Actress went to Hilary Duff for The Haunting of Sharon Tate, while Worst Remake, Rip-Off or Sequel went to Sylvester Stallone's Rambo: Last Blood, which also won the Worst Reckless Disregard for Human Life and Public Property.

Meanwhile, Eddie Murphy won the Razzies’ Redeemer Award, which recognises turnaround performances from previous Razzie winners, for his role in Dolemite Is My Name.

Murphy won Worst Picture and Worst Actor for his movie Norbit in 2007.
