7 Jan – Now that she has more time to expand her horizon in Filipino showbiz, one of Catriona Gray's plans this year is to be more fluent in the Filipino language.
As reported on ABS-CBN, the Fil-Australian beauty, who recently made her hosting debut on "It's Showtime", stated that she would like to be able to converse with much ease with the people, thus would like to hone her Filipino skills better.
The second reason is so that she would be able to be a better speaker for her advocacy.
"I do wish to eventually be able to tour around and give talks, and I feel like it would be easier to comprehend, especially in the provinces, if I were fluent. It's really something that I am working on," she said.
It is noted that Gray's lack of proficiency in the language previously became the source of debate when she won the title of Miss Universe-PH at the 2018 Binibining Pilipinas - with some saying that she was more of an Australian than a Filipina. However, all arguments about her language skills dissipated after she won the Miss Universe title.
On the other hand, when asked about her experience being the guest host on "It's Showtime" on Monday, 6 January, Gray admitted that she had a great time.
"Of course, it's also my birthday so it's a very special day for me. It's a really amazing way for me to spend time with my fans and with the people and also this whole week. I know I will be in good spirits," she enthused.
