Catriona Gray unveiled a wax figure of herself at Madame Tussauds Singapore, the first Filipino figure to be featured at the attraction.

At an interactive display in the museum's TV and film zone, visitors are invited to recreate Gray's iconic "lava walk" from the night on which she was crowned Miss Universe 2018.

“Being invited by Madame Tussauds, to be immortalised in wax is further testimony as to why I chose pageantry. While I thoroughly enjoy modelling, pageantry has enabled me to have a voice, to inspire change and to help other women in my immediate communities and beyond,” said Gray. "I believe that if my figure being here, and being talked about across social media, inspires just one person to believe in themselves and to find a path that is true to them, it has all been worth it. I am so unbelievably proud to be the first Filipino to grace Madame Tussauds Singapore, not least the first female Filipino."

Gray's wax lookalike pays homage to the "lava gown" which she wore during the beauty pageant. The dress was specially reproduced for the wax figure by Mak Tumang, the same designer who made Gray's gown at Miss Universe.

The fiery lava red gown, inspired by the Mayon Volcano, was rendered in Swarovski crystals.

Eric Mak, General Manager of Madame Tussauds Singapore, said, "We're frequently asked what or who inspires us to select who we work with next, and the short answer is, we listen to our fans. Hot off the back of Catriona’s crowning in 2018, our fans voted for her to be the personality they next wanted to see here in Singapore. We listened and in 2019, we were honored to invite Catriona to sit for our team and the painstaking work began."

The unveiling of Gray's wax figure was delayed by two years amid the COVID-19 pandemic which began in 2020.

The statue will be on display in Singapore until September 2022, then rotated between Madame Tussauds Hong Kong and Bangkok.

In appreciation of healthcare workers in Singapore amid the pandemic, Gray and Madame Tussauds Singapore donated care packs which will be distributed to nursing staff at IHH Healthcare's hospitals and clinics.

Healthcare workers can enjoy a 50% discount on Madame Tussauds Singapore tickets (usual price S$42) by using the promo code HEALTH50 when booking tickets on the museum's website. Medical or healthcare ID is required for entry.

Aside from Gray's wax figure in Singapore, another Filipino beauty queen, Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach, has a wax figure on display at Madame Tussauds Hong Kong.
