Catriona Gray calls for monetary aid for Red Cross

3 Nov – Catriona Gray is calling for financial aid from the public to support the Philippine Red Cross in their efforts to saving lives following Typhoon Goni (also known as Super Typhoon Rolly).

On 2 November, the beauty queen, who is also the current ambassador of the PRC, took to social media to make her plea, writing, "The [Philippine Red Cross] has alerted all chapters, 143 volunteers, and deployed a Disaster Management Team from the National Headquarters for rescue and relief operations to Bicol, my hometown, and other affected areas."

"In order to continue serving the most vulnerable and affected communities, I am calling all kind-hearted donors and humanitarian partners to help support the Red Cross in their response operations."

Gray added that the financial support can help the Red Cross in preparing for food and hygiene kits for evacuees, contribute in building homes, or provide cash assistance to the affected families.

"Help us make a difference, the Red Cross needs you now!" she added.

Aside from monetary aid, one may also send-in donations to the Philippine Red Cross Tower in Mandaluyong City, or go to www.redcross.org.ph for more information.

At least ten dead, with 30 million residents affected following Typhoon Goni, which battered the country on 1 November. It came a week following Typhoon Molave, and is closely followed by tropical storm Siony.
