Casey Affleck & John Cena To Host ‘SNL’ Shows This Month

Casey Affleck will take time out from the awards-season campaign to make his Saturday Night Live debut this month. The Manchester by the Sea star will show off his comedy chops as host of the late-night stalwart on December 17. NBC also said today that WWE superstar John Cena will make his first SNL appearance as host of the December 10 episode.

Chance the Rapper will return for a second stint as SNL‘s musical guest on the Affleck-hosted show, and “My Church” singer Maren Morris gets that gig on the 10th.

Affleck is an early front-runner for a Best Actor Oscar, already having been lauded by the New York Film Critics Circle and the Gotham Awards and nominated by the Spirit Awards and Critics’ Choice Film Awards. His film also won the top prize from the National Board of Review this week. Cena is a champion pro wrestler who also has appeared in such recent films as Daddy’s Home, Sisters and Trainwreck along with upcoming features The Pact and The Wall. He also hosts Fox’s realty show American Grit and has co-hosted NBC’s Today multiple times.

NBC said last month that Emma Stone will host SNL this weekend, marking her third turn on the Studio 8H stage at Rockefeller Center. Shawn Mendes in the musical guest.
