Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds' joint headstone unveiled - and it's a thing of beauty
The headstone that will mark where Carrie Fisher and her mother Debbie Reynolds have been laid to rest was unveiled in Los Angeles yesterday – and it’s a thing of beauty.
Erected at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Hollywood, it comprises two statues, mother and daughter, sculpted in Greek style.
They hold hands over the memorial to the movie legends, their births and deaths etched in the marble below.
The unveiling of the monument to Fisher and Reynolds came after a joint memorial service at the cemetary on March 25, attended by friends and family including Dan Aykroyd, singer James Blunt, and, of course, Fisher’s long-time sidekick, her bulldog Gary.
Reynolds and Fisher lived together in Fisher’s famously rambling home in Beverly Hills, right up until their deaths, which tragically came just hours apart.
Fisher died four days after suffering a heart attack on a flight from London to Los Angeles, on December 27, 2016.
Reynolds died on December 28, from an intra-cerebral haemorrhage.
Fisher’s brother Todd said that shortly before she died, she told him ‘I want to be with Carrie’.
