Cardi B cancels Singapore F1 gig; gets replaced by Gwen Stefani

It’s sad, but true. Fans of Cardi B won’t get to see the American rapper at this year’s Singapore F1 concerts after all, as the performer has pulled out of her gig here “due to a major rescheduling of her September and October tour.”

In an official statement released by Singapore GP today, the race promoter announced the change with “regret.” The first solo female artist to win the Best Rap Album Grammy was originally supposed to make her debut on our shores on Sept 21.

“While undoubtedly disappointing, we hope to work with Cardi B again in the near future,” they added.

But lest you think the reason for her cancellation could be linked to Singapore’s censorship boards and her penchant for the provocative and controversial, it seems like plastic surgery complications were what led to her calling off and rescheduling multiple shows in the US and UK over the past few weeks.

In another press release on the same day, Singapore GP revealed that American singer-songwriter Gwen Stefani will take the Padang Stage on Sept 21, basically replacing Cardi B on a line-up that includes Red Hot Chili Peppers, Swedish House Mafia, Muse, Hans Zimmer, and Fatboy Slim.

A three-time Grammy Award winner, the Hollaback Girl’s most recent album This Is What The Truth Feels Like was dropped in 2016, featuring the single “Used To Love You.” Tickets to her concert and the Saturday race start from S$188, or you can get a three-day pass from S$278.
