Calvin Poon doesn't think about winning awards

19 Feb – Calvin Poon recently stated that he has never thought about winning awards when he decided to venture into filmmaking.

As reported on Mingpao, the lyricist-turned-filmmaker who spoke about Sammi Cheng and Charlene Choi being nominated at the Hong Kong Film Awards for his movie, "Fatal Visit", stated that whenever he makes a film he only hopes for the investors to get the return of their investment and for the cast and crew to be recognised for their work.

"I would gladly accept it if I were to win one, but winning an award has never been a goal. The most important thing is to have the audiences be inspired by my work and loving it," he said.

Calvin also hopes that he will be able to make more movies in the future.

"If this film does well at the box office and the investors make their money, maybe I will get the chance to make another film. But the industry is in the ice age right now. You can currently count how many big names are still actively working," he said.
