Despite being a supporter of Trump’s administration, self-professed Republican Caitlyn Jenner has spoken out against the removal of protection guidelines for transgender students.

It was revealed in a letter on February 23rd that the Department of Justice and Education would be rescinding the guidelines introduced by President Obama’s administration that protected the rights of transgender students to use the bathroom of their gender identity. The move comes despite President Trump’s claims during his campaign that he would stand up for the rights of the LGBTQ community, and, now seemingly throwaway comments, about Caitlyn Jenner that resonated with the transgender community.

Well, now Caitlyn Jenner has spoken out against the move, calling it “a disaster.”

In an Instagram video, Jenner, who has previously come under fire for her politics and who supported Trump during the election, chastised the decision, addressing the current President as “one Republican to another.”

“I have a message to the trans kids of America: You are winning,” she said “I know it doesn’t feel like it today or every day, but you’re winning. Very soon, we will win full freedom nationwide and it’s going to be with bipartisan support.”

Jenner then took aim at “the bullies,” saying: “You’re sick. And because you’re weak, you pick on kids, you pick on women or anyone else you think is vulnerable. Apparently even becoming the attorney general isn’t enough to cure some people of their insecurities.”

Making reference to the upcoming Supreme Court case brought against the state of Virginia by trans student Gavin Grimm, Jenner then turned her attention to President Trump.

“I have a message for President Trump, from one Republican to another,” she said. “This is a disaster. And you can still fix it. You made a promise to protect the LGBTQ community. Call me.”

Caitlyn Jenner isn’t the first celebrity to speak out against the removal of the protection guidelines. Stars like Ellen DeGeneres, Katy Perry, Chris Evans, and YouTuber Tyler Oakley all responded.

Alongside her video, Caitlyn Jenner also shared a link to the National Center for Transgender Equality, that contains details on how contact those in government and inform them that people won’t stand for discrimination.
