If you're looking to jazz up your pizza routine, pop on over to this casual-chic restaurant at South Beach. We like that it's laid-back enough for dinner with friends, yet nicely outfitted for dates and special occasions. The kitchen emphasises fresh artisanal ingredients, and the handmade pizza crusts are baked in a wood-fired oven till crisp, light and airy, both of which justify the higher than usual pizza prices. Look under the Specials section in the pizza menu for a variety of creatively paired toppings. Two favourites with the Burpple community are the Prosciutto & Asparagus ($34), a complex layering of San Daniele aged prosciutto, mozzarella, Grano Padano, broccoli cream and asparagus; as well as the Sausage & Potatoes ($34), which cleverly contrasts savoury sausage with delicate slices of purple sweet potato. End your meal on a sweet note with the Portuguese Egg Tart ($4.20 for two). Dusted liberally with cinnamon, the tart sees an oozing custard encased in flaky crust. Like Burpple Tastemaker Peter Wong says, it tastes just like Christmas. Avg Price: $50 per person Photo by Burpple Tastemaker Acamas Teo Bing Qiang

For Pizza Lunch with the Family
La Nonna is one of our top places for hearty, homey Italian fare, and that certainly includes their thin-crust pizzas baked to order in their wood-fire oven. Book a table for Sunday lunch with the family and order the La Nonna Pizza ($24.50). A longtime favourite on the menu, their signature tomato-based pizza is a winning combination of mozzarella, parmesan, asparagus, black truffle paste and a oozy egg. Another one to try is the Meat Lovers ($25.90), a tomato-based pizza topped with mozzarella, onion, salami, ham, pancetta and roasted chicken. Portion sizes are generous so pace yourselves! Pro tip: While more out of the way compared to this Holland Village outlet, their Namly Place restaurant offers slightly more competitve pricing ($23 for the La Nonna Pizza), but the Meat Lovers is not on the menu there. This might be something price-sensitive Burpplers would want to consider. Avg Price: $25 per person Photo by Burppler Joey Ee

    For Excellent Neopolitan-Style Pizzas
A charming spot on Kandahar Street, this beautifully outfitted shophouse restaurant is the place to go to for Neopolitan-style pizzas. Made with imported Italian flour, topped with homemade tomato sauce and loaded with fresh ingredients, the pizzas are baked in a wood-fired oven that is suspended from a ceiling (!). Neopolitan-style pizzas sport a characteristic leopard-like spotted crust and are incredibly flavourful. Order the Bismark ($25), a Burpple community favourite that comes topped with fior de latte cheese, ham, mushrooms, parmesan and a runny egg. Take Burppler Cassandra Chow's cue to swirl the egg yolk with the creamy cheese for "a luxurious, creamy, fragrant, amazing mess". The Magherita ($18) and salami-topped Diavola ($23) are also winners in our books. For dessert, consider the 72% Venezuela cocoa cake, flecked with pink sea salt and topped with vanilla gelato. For Pizzas in an Italian Tavern Setting
Tucked away inside the Grand Hyatt Singapore, Pete's Place is the perfect place for family gatherings. We love the warm and cosy atmosphere, and how touches like checked tablecloths and brick walls bring about the atmosphere of an Italian tavern. The recent menu revamp introduces their new 48-hour pizza dough, made using a recipe that allows the yeast to settle more evenly, resulting in a lighter, more flavourful crust. The flavour combinations here are classic and fail-safe — you'd do well with the simple Magherita ($18) or the punchy Diavola ($24), topped generously with tomato sauce, mozzarella, Italian pepperoni, bell peppers and fennel seeds. The clear winner however is the dreamy Pizza Burrata ($26). Made with a lusciously savoury tomato sauce base, fresh basil and anchovies, the pizza is then topped with fresh burrata cheese as soon as it comes out of the wood-fired oven — yum! Save space for the Tiramisu ($16). The portion is good to share among four, and is one of the tastiest and well-balanced renditions of the Italian dessert we've had. Pro tip: Visit between 6 to 7pm daily to enjoy a free salad (DIY from the counter) with every main ordered! Avg Price: $30 per person Photo by Burppler Leigh Khoo

Big group meal? Gather the crew at Alt. Pizza for a pizza party. We love how prices are kept affordable, and picky eaters in the group can opt to design their own 11-inch thin crust pizza (from $8) — there are over 30 toppings to choose from, including buffalo sauce, chipotle chicken and wagyu shortrib meatballs. The pizza crust also nails the right balance of light and chewy. For no-brainers that hit the spot, try The Hangover ($18), a protein-packed option topped with pepperoni, fennel sausage and roasted onions; or go with the Burpple community's favourite, Truffle Shuffle ($18). The white sauce based pizza comes heaped with mushrooms, fennel sausage and a good hit of white truffle oil. You might want to get a basket of their signature Alt. Wings ($12) to share too. These pack quite a bit of heat, so dip them generously into the accompanying blue cheese dipping sauce! Avg Price: $20 per person Photo by Burppler The Pseudo Epicure

    For All-Round Stellar Pizzas
An oldie but a goodie, this MBS stalwart continues to turn out stellar, flawless pizzas. Grab a seat at the bar and watch the chefs knead, build and cook your pizzas — you'll certainly appreciate the hard work that goes into it! The crust here is on the thicker, chewier side, yet surprisingly airy to the bite. You are unlikely to go wrong with any pizza you order, but here are our favourites to inspire you — the Fennel Sausage Pizza ($29) sees familiar flavours of homemade pork fennel sausage, cream, scallions and red onions coming together; the Funghi Misti ($30) is a vegetarian-friendly choice loaded with four different mushrooms, fontina and taleggio; the Fresh Goat Cheese ($30) balances out the creaminess of the cheese perfectly with leeks, scallions, garlic and bacon; while the Margherita ($27) nails the timeless combination of tomato, mozzarella, basil and wood-fired char. Pro tip: This places gets really packed, so it's best to make reservations. Avg Price: $40 per person Photo by Burppler Hengpei Ang

Elegantly outfitted in black and white and accented with lush greenery, The Dempsey Cookhouse & Bar is spacious and chic, and definitely one of the prettiest spots in town — bring the girls for lunch, or file this away for an intimate date night. There are tons of delicious dishes to try here, but one of our favourites has to be chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten's signature Black Truffle and Fontina Cheese Pizza ($28). Cooked in a cherry wood oven, the pizza is smothered generously with black truffle paste from France and topped with black truffle shavings — what an indulgent treat! As for the crust, Burpple Tastemaker Jonathan Wong describes it to be "soft and fluffy, with crispy charred bits, and extremely thin; you could eat more of the pizza without being filled up". The pizza is available on their lunch, dinner as well as weekend brunch menu. Avg Price: $50 per person Photo by Burpple Tastemaker Jonathan Wong

If you're ravenous and find yourself in like-minded company, rock up to Peperoni Pizzeria for their 21-inch Family Pizza ($55). A sight to behold, this XXL pizza is good enough for four hungry people and the fact that it is thin-crust means you are less likely to fill up on dough. The crispy edges are a delicious bonus! You can choose to have two flavours (from 19 available), and additional toppings are at $7 each. Burpple Tastemaker Fabian Poon swears by the combination of Pancetta (cured bacon, tomatoes and egg) and Prosciutto Crudo di Parma (Parma ham and rocket salad) — but honestly, everything here is good. Pro tip: There are seven Peperoni Pizzeria outlets spread out across Singapore so there's no longer a need to travel west to Greenwood. Avg Price: $30 per person Photo by Burppler Jenna Ding

For Pizzas in the Heart of Town
If you've worked up an appetite from trawling the shops in town, stop in at PizzaExpress. The UK pizza chain serves up excellent pizzas, and its location in Scotts Square makes it ideal for a delicious rest stop. If you're not keen on filling up too soon, go for the Romana pizzas, which sport a thin and crispy crust. Take Burppler Zi Heng Tay's advice and try the Carbonara ($25), topped with loads of smoked bacon, parmesan and a soft-cooked egg, or go local with the sweet and spicy Chilli Crab ($28), which is topped with small cubes of mantou. If you don't mind something slightly breadier (but still thin and crispy), get the Calabrese ($26). This slightly spicy pizza comes with Calabria-style sausage, fresh mozzarella, jalapenos, roasted peppers and red chillies. Burppler Dex Neo loves that the peppers were roasted till soft and juicy, and that the generous spread of rocket and pesto brought all the flavours together beautifully. Pro tip: The Burpple community still isn't too impressed with the pastas, so focus on the pizzas instead. Avg Price: $20 per person Photo by Burppler Zi Heng Tay

For Pocket-Friendly Pizzas by the Slice
O Mamma Mia, a chain eatery from Spain (they have 23 outlets), serves up really affordable pizzas. There's another outlet in Causeway Point, and one set to open soon in Changi City Point. What we love most is that the pizzas are served by the slice — great if you're dining alone, or with friends who can't agree on toppings! There are 15 flavours, and prices average at $4. Despite the affordable price, the quality is impeccable. Most of the ingredients, including the thin-crust pizza dough, are imported from Italy. The dough, in particular, crisps up beautifully when baked. Some favourites among the Burpple community include the cheesy 5 Formaggi ($3.90); the 5 Terre ($4.20) topped with pesto, mushrooms, tomatoes, parmesan and mozzarella; and the O Mamma Mia ($4.20) topped with ham, mushrooms, tomatoes, mozzarella and egg. There's even Nutella ($3.50) for dessert, it hits the spot with the classic combination of Nutella and sliced banana. The pizza and drink combo is great value at $5.50. Pro tip: Seating is limited so consider getting your pizzas to go. Avg Price: $5 per person Photo by Burpple Tastemaker Geraldine Tay
