Burberry releases Christmas campaign, starring Naomi Campbell

Luxury fashion retailer Burberry has released a star-studded Christmas campaign, celebrating the eccentricity of a British celebration. The campaign centres around a film entitled ‘Close Your Eyes and Think of Christmas’ stars bigwigs like Kristin Scott Thomas, M.I.A and previous campaign stars Matt Smith and Naomi Campbell. Valerie Morris-Campbell, Naomi’s mother, also appears. Both Naomi and Valerie were decked in the Vivienne Westwood & Burberry collection, which will launch in store and online on 6 December.

The campaign, which celebrates iconic pieces including trench coats, scarves, tailoring and eveningwear, will continue to appeal to shoppers – it was reported on Thursday that the Burberry Group PLC (BRBY.LN) reported a rise of 36% in pretax profit for the first half profits with a small dip in sales.

The recent Singles Day sales also saw consumers in Asia grabbing the brand’s B-series shirts and hoodies, causing a sold-out in a few hours. Chief executive officer Marco Gobbetti has said the brand does not exclude Asia, one of the largest markets, from growth, and eyes Japan as the brand’s next expansion, preferring to concentrate on seasonal capsule collection and limited drops, instead of the see-now, buy-now concept.
