A BTS Meal packaging is being sold online for S$23,885

Other than taking over the music industry, K-Pop group BTS is taking over the food scene with their McDonald’s collaboration in the form of the BTS Meal.

The BTS meal, which comes with 10-piece nuggets, cajun and sweet chilli sauces, along with fries and a drink, is sold in specially designed BTS packaging across the globe. With meals getting sold out on its first day of launch in certain countries, ARMYs (the name for BTS’s fans) are causing a frenzy all over the world, trying to get their hands on a set of the meal and keeping the packaging as memorabilia.

Recently in Indonesia, the McDonald's store in Bogor even closed early on Wednesday (9 June) after a massive crowd of delivery drivers turned up for their pick-ups.

Due to the high demand amongst ARMYs, the BTS-inspired paper bags, nuggets box, and cup have also made their way to various shopping sites.

In Taiwan, a set of the well-preserved packaging is for sale at a whooping TW$499,999, which is approximately S$23,885. The paper bag that holds the meal is on the shopping site for TW$177,777, which means fans will have to spend S$8,490 if they want to buy the BTS Meal bag.

Some of the luckier fans who got their hands on the BTS meal had also transformed the packaging into artsy memorabilia, including keychains, tote bag, phone cases, and more, bringing a piece of the BTS meal with them wherever they go.

Creative ARMYs have also developed ways to keep their BTS Meal packaging intact, including making a DIY box to hold the cup, sauces, and nugget box to make sure they are not damaged.

The BTS Meal, which was scheduled to be sold in Singapore from 27 May, was delayed due to Phase 3 (Heightened Alert) and will be launched on 21 June instead.
