Bryan Cranston Wants To Play A Marvel Villain

Look out Loki – Bryan Cranston has his sights set on a villainous comic book role.

During an interview with Metro, the 59-year-old ‘Breaking Bad’ star admitted that he’d love to star in a Marvel movie… and he wants a villainous role.

“You know what I’d like to do?” he said. “I’d like to do some big superhero villain in some Marvel classic.” And I get the feeling most Marvel fans would be on board for that.

Of course, Cranston has become best known for the role of meth-dealing teacher-turned-drug-baron Walter White… but perhaps that role was a little too squeaky clean. And now he wants to try his hand as a comic book villain.

But which classic villain would he like to play?

“Create one from scratch,” he said. “I don’t know what I would do but it would be nasty.”

Obviously, it wouldn’t be the first time that Marvel had come up with a somewhat original villain – what with Darren Cross as Yellowjacket in the recent ‘Ant-Man’ movie, as well as the vastly different Mandarin we found in ‘Iron Man 3’.

But could Cranston be convinced to portray a classic Marvel villain?

There’s already been plenty of talk amongst Marvel fans, suggesting potential casting for the Emmy award-winning actor… and I can’t help thinking that he could make a rather excellent Norman Osborn in the upcoming ‘Spider-Man’ reboot.

Of course, that role previously went to Willem Dafoe in the original ‘Spider-Man’ series, with Chris Cooper taking over in ‘Amazing Spider-Man 2’. But it’s currently unknown how the iconic Marvel villain will fit into Marvel’s plans.

Either way, it looks as though one of the greatest actors of our generation is interested in joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And the studio would be made not to approach him.
