From Brows to Bronzing: This is How I Prepare For a Vacation

From ELLE

Travel season is upon us–well for me at least. I have two big trips coming up; my wedding anniversary in Bora Bora in April and then Cannes for the film festival in May. I started to make a list of all the things I have to do (beauty wise) to prepare for my trip. That includes facials, lasers, brows, lashes, bronzing–everything. So of course, I decided to share my pre-travel regimen with you. Read on for the full breakdown.

Brows:

I get my eyebrows done at Anthony Andrews in Beverly Hills. I love Anthony, he really loves a nice thick brow and just gets it. I have mine tinted, waxed and tweezed with extreme precision.

Lashes:

I get lash lifts every few months. It opens your eyes dramatically and I swear they make me look five years younger. I go to Elysee at Yumi Lashes in Beverly Hills. The treatment takes about 1.5 hours and lasts for your whole lash life cycle (about 2-3 months). She also tints the lashes so mascara isn't needed afterwards.

Laser Treatment:

I love lasers! They stimulate collagen, promote skin elasticity and get rid of my dark spots from years of sun exposure. For my treatments I go to Dr. Ben Talei at the Beverly Hills Center. Talei uses the Palomar Lux 1540 XF on me. This laser is official like it does not mess around. I get it a week before a trip because it does require some down time. After about four days my skin is incredibly plump and smooth.

Extreme Facial:

Last but certainly not least is the facial. I see Kerry Benjamin at Stacked Skincare. Kerry does a five step facial that always leaves me wanting more. One thing I particularly love is the derma planing. Derma planing is a way to exfoliate that basically removes the dead layer of skin using a small surgical blade. The blade simultaneously removes peach fuzz from your face. This is great if you're going to say fashion week or have a big event - you will be totally red carpet ready.

Hair:

For my hair I always see Cherin Choi at Salon Benjamin in Downtown LA. I won't trust anyone else to do my hair. I dye my hair a nice, natural black color and I also get a gloss. The hair gloss treatment helps to well, make my hair glossy… and shiny! My hair is really thin so I also get a conditioning treatment and a trim of course. I have a short cut so it's essential that my hair is on point.

Body Scrub:

Have you ever had a Korean body scrub? It's life changing. Fortunately I live by one of the best K spas in the country, Ann Karen Day Spa. It's super clean and they are very thorough. I get the milk and honey scrub. It's slightly satisfying to see all of that disgusting dead skin flying off of you, also quite gross at the same time. This scrub really preps my body, it makes my skin glow and feel oh so soft.

Nails:

I can't go anywhere without having my nails done. I always get a gel manicure before I travel. With all the transporting and lugging bags from here to there, I'm bound to get a chip or two. With the gel mani I'm guaranteed perfect nails for at least 10 days–one less thing to worry about. I try to either get classic red or nude, they go with everything.

Tan:

I'm a firm believer that everyone looks better a little sun kissed unless your name is Dita Von Teese. So about two weeks before my trip I usually start using a self tanner. I'm obsessed with the one from La Mer; it gives you a really nice subtle glow. I use the James Read Sleep Mask for my face. It dries quickly and it doesn't get on my pillow or clothes.

Detox:

I do a three day juice cleanse from Kreation usually before I travel. This helps to keep my energy and immunity up. It also flushes out toxins in my body and gives me that extra pep in my step so that I'm not a zombie after an 11 hour flight.
