Brooke Shields to Recur on ‘Law & Order: SVU’ Season 19

Suddenly Susan, this is exciting: “Law & Order: SVU” has cast Brooke Shields in a “major” recurring role for its upcoming Season 19.

“I play a very different character from any I have ever played,” Shields said in a statement. “I’m excited to stir the ‘SVU’ pot a bit.”

The Hollywood Reporter first reported the news of Shields’ casting. While there are very few details known of her role, NBC promised there that Shields “will shake up Benson’s (Mariska Hargitay) world.”

As previously announced, also climbing aboard the procedural-that-just-won’t-quit for this season is new showrunner Michael Chernuchin, who last year helmed Dick Wolf’s one-and-done “Chicago Justice.”

“Law & Order: SVU” returns Wednesday, Sept. 27 at 9/8c on NBC.
