Britney Spears's Mother Files a Request to Be Included in the Pop Star's Finances

With scrutiny over Britney Spears's long-running conservatorship growing, the pop star's mom, Lynne Spears, filed a request on Monday with the Los Angeles County Court requesting that she be included in her daughter's finances.

Specifically, Lynne is interested in receiving special notice on "all matters" concerning her daughter's SJB Revocable Trust, which Britney filed in 2004 in order to protect her assets and to set up her two sons for the future. The trust is also intended to "hold and manage her material financial assets during her lifetime, and provide distribution of those assets upon her death," according to The Blast, which first broke the news.

Lynne has previously attempted to gain access to issues related to her daughter's conservatorship, which her ex-husband and Britney's father, Jamie Spears, runs. She last requested special notice in May 2019, according to Entertainment Tonight.

"Britney's mother has always wanted to have a position in Britney's conservatorship," an insider revealed to ET at the time. "Her mom has tried at different points over the years to have some sort of say."

The outlet also reported that the court extended the singer's conservatorship until at least the end of this summer. Britney first entered a conservatorship in 2008 after reportedly struggling with multiple mental breakdowns.

In recent months, fans have spread theories about Britney's seemingly bizarre presence on social media, ultimately resulting in the resurgence of #FreeBritney, a trending hashtag pushing for release from her conservatorship.

In one instance, occurring in April, fans expressed concern for Britney after she casually revealed on Instagram that she accidentally burned down her home gym. "Is that what actually happened? Are you okay Britney? Really worried about you," one user commented.

Still, Britney has reassured fans that there's nothing to worry about--that she's just being herself on social media. "I get how some people might not like my posts or even understand them, but this is Me being happy," she wrote in an Instagram post shared last weekend. "This is Me being authentic and as real as it gets!"
