17 Jul - It was revealed that award-winning filmmaker Brillante Mendoza will be directing President Rodrigo Duterte's State of the Nation Address again.
As reported on Rappler, the news was confirmed by Communications Secretary Martin Andanar, who shared that they decided on Mendoza since the film director previously expressed interest in doing it.
Andanar also added that the "Ma' Rosa" director will also make several adjustments following the criticisms he received for the previous programme.
Mendoza directed President Duterte's first State of the Nation Address back in July last year, but was received with several negative comments, especially in terms of the sound and camera works.
One of the critics include actor and animation producer Edwin Guillermo, who said, "I know he's an award-winning filmmaker and I respect him. But a feature film style doesn't suit a formal speech. I understand that he wanted to experiment with techniques, but it seemed like the wrong venue and audience for that."
