Brillante Mendoza's "Amo" to premiere on Netflix

The filmmaker inks a deal with the streaming service for the rights to stream the 12-episode series about the drug war

22 Mar – Brillante Mendoza becomes the first Filipino filmmaker to have a deal with internet-based entertainment company, Netflix, as his new series, "Amo" will premiere on the streaming service.

As reported on Inquirer, Mendoza, whose 12-part series on the drug war was supposed to premiere on TV5 last year, shared that he is happy with the new development, as it means that they can now expand their target audience.

"Foreign viewers will get acquainted with our stories and culture on a different platform-beyond the film festival circuit," said Mendoza, known to many for his award-winning movie, "Ma' Rosa".

Described as "bold and suspenseful", "Amo" stars Derek Ramsay as a policeman whose main goal is to keep drug pushers off the street. It co-stars Vince Rillon, Allen Dizon, Felix Roco, Archie Adamos, and Baron Geisler.

The series focuses on the lives of individuals involved in every level of the drug network as they are caught in the crossfire of the government's campaign against drugs.
