Brief Trailer Preview For Resident Evil: The Final Chapter

The end is nigh for the long-running ‘Resident Evil’ series – and soon enough, we’ll have a full-length trailer to prove it.

The husband and wife team of writer-director Paul WS Anderson and star Milla Jovovich are currently in post-production on ‘Resident Evil: The Final Chapter,’ the sixth and apparently last installment in the sci-fi horror franchise based on the hugely popular video game series.

Early next week we can expect the full trailer – but just to whet our appetites, a very brief teaser for this trailer has been released. And when we say it’s brief and a tease, we ain’t kidding.

Watch the clip below.

So, from this we can surmise – Jovovich’s indestructible post-apocalyptic zombie killer Alice will ride a motorbike, wear black leather and/or PVC, and “kill every last one of them” while stuff blows up all around her. Never saw that coming, right?

While we don’t see anyone else in this clip, ‘Resident Evil: The Final Chapter’ will reunite Jovovich with Ali Larter (co-star of third and fourth films ‘Resident Evil: Extinction’ and ‘Resident Evil: Afterlife’) as fellow zombie killer Claire Redfield.

The supporting cast will also include Shawn Roberts, Rola, Eoin Macken, William Levy, Fraser James, and ‘Orange is the New Black’ star Ruby Rose (also set to appear alongside Vin Diesel in ‘XXX: The Return of Xander Cage,’ and with Keanu Reeves in ‘John Wick 2’).

The official synopsis tells us that ‘Resident Evil: The Final Chapter’ picks up immediately after the events of fifth film ‘Resident Evil: Retribution,’ with “humanity is on its last legs after Alice is betrayed by Wesker in Washington D.C.

“As the only survivor of what was meant to be humanity’s final stand against the undead hordes, Alice must return to where the nightmare began – Raccoon City, where the Umbrella Corporation is gathering its forces for a final strike against the only remaining survivors of the apocalypse.

“In a race against time Alice will join forces with old friends, and an unlikely ally, in an action packed battle with undead hordes and new mutant monsters. Between losing her superhuman abilities and Umbrella’s impending attack, this will be Alice’s most difficult adventure as she fights to save humanity, which is on the brink of oblivion.”

Since kicking off with 2002’s ‘Resident Evil,’ the series has grossed almost $916 million at the global box office to date.

‘Resident Evil: The Final Chapter’ will open first in Japan at Christmas and across other territories throughout January and February, before reaching the UK and Ireland on 24 February 2017.
