“The Oscar-winning actress appeared at the special Marvel Studios Hall H panel to confirm she will play the iconic role of Carol Danvers in the upcoming ‘Captain Marvel’ film.”

Of course, Brie Larson is best known for the Oscar-winning movie, ‘Room’ but has also appeared in the likes of ’21 Jump Street’ and is due to appear in the upcoming monster movie, ‘Kong: Skull Island’.

She’s no stranger to comic book movies, either – starring as Envy Adams in ‘Scott Pilgrim vs. the World’.

But who is Captain Marvel?

Originally known as Ms. Marvel in the comic books, Air Force pilot Carol Danvers obtains superhuman powers when her DNA becomes fused with that of an alien (the original Captain Marvel) in a freak accident.

Her abilities include superhuman strength, endurance, stamina, flight, physical durability, a limited sixth sense, and resistance to most toxins and poisons. She can also fire energy blasts from her fingertips.

Brie Larson has been rumoured for the role of Captain Marvel for some time… but this is the first confirmation that she has actually bagged the role.

Who will be joining her?

Unfortunately, further details are being kept firmly under wraps. But it looks as though ‘Captain Marvel’ is off to a great start. Fingers crossed we get to see the original hero, Captain Mar-Vell at some point during the movie.

‘Captain Marvel’ stars Brie Larson as the titular superhero.

Meg LeFauve and Nicole Perlman wrote the screenplay.

‘Captain Marvel’ heads to cinemas on 8 March 2019.
